VW-Porsche 914 Magazine Ads

These are all of the VW-Porsche Vertriebgesellschaft mbH sponsored advertisements that I have located, but I occasionally find more from time to time, so its fair to say that this collection is not yet complete. They are grouped by format style and listed in approximate publication order, and you can see their progression of design and marketing focus over time. It is interesting to me that there are significantly more and larger-sized German 914 ads than USA 914 ads, yet the German market absorbed only about one third of the 914s exported to America. Also observe that photos from two of these ads were also issued as USA advertisements, and it is fun to compare the two versions and see how they differ. Many of the German ads are two pages and about half are in color. Note that the German ads were only issued through 1974, reflecting that the 914 VW-Porsche was only offered in Europe through the 1975 model year. The German ads came from various German-language magazines including Auto Motor Sport, Der Spiegel and Rally Racing. The smaller line art independent dealer ads may come from racing brochures.

There are a surprisingly large number of French 914 ads sponsored by VW-Porsche VG which are co-supported by BP (British Petroleum?). All French ads are in monochrome, black and white. The French ads came from l’auto journal and lui magazine.

I also wonder if other VW-Porsche VG sponsored ads were circulated in other markets where the VW-Porsche 914 was promoted? As an example, we know that the 914 was imported to Japan, Sweden, Australia, Great Britain and Italy. And what about Spain and The Netherlands? Please send me a photo of any other 914 ads you may know of or find, I will include them and give you credit.
