Engine Bay Make Over
First things first:
- Removed the radiator, A/C radiator and
fan
- Remove the engine
- Recore the radiator for max cooling
and disconnect the internal oil coolers
- Fit a larger Engine oil cooler
- Fit a larger Transmission cooler for
the added horse power
- Repaint the engine bay with 37c "Tahoe
Blue" and blue pearl.
- Install some good heat shield
- Chrome all the extra bits
- Make some good extractors to fit inside the squishy engine
bay 3"
- Get them ceramic coated by HPC
(Don't want them to rust on me!)
- Install the engine and conversion kit
- Fit a surge tank for the fuel for the
mechanical fuel pump to draw from
- (To eliminate fuel slosh)
- Get a reverse cycle water pump, brackets
and pulleys from a suburban (all new)
- Fit the pumps and alternator
on a serpentine belt and pulleys
- Install a new 650cfm Double Pumper
Holley
- Install a High flow K&N air filter
- Install a new 3" exhaust system with all mandrel bends
- (One hot-dog and one straight through resonator, no catalytic converter
required)
- With dump
system at the extractor for drag racing.
- And Eureka. It is completed!
The original
motor only had 229hp, 250ft/lbs of torque and 8:5:1 compression.
